Carolyn Stypka is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and has various passions ranging from youth to end of life, nature and food, as well as connecting body and mind together.
Carolyn studied community health and building at her Master’s program and loves to work on systemic changes and community healing.
Carolyn was born and raised on the northside of Chicago, Illinois and has been a proud southsider for over nine years.
As a certified yoga teacher, she may invite you to explore how movements, stretches, breathwork, or meditation can help dislodge and relax in ways that talk therapy or a bubble bath might not always do the trick (but they can be good too!). Movements are always your choice in session, and it’s not a requirement for working with me.
Carolyn loves using art as a healing and creative tool, and has the most experience with clay and pottery. She has studied pottery informally in Japan, and has taught hand-building and wheel-throwing at IMAN’s Beloved Ceramic studio in Chicago Lawn.
Master of Social Work // University of Illinois at Chicago
Bachelor of Social Work & Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts // Valparaiso University
Certified Yoga Teacher 200 Hour // Breathe for Change
30 Hour Yoga Nidra certificate // Mia Park
Permaculture Design Certificate 72-Hour and Advanced // Great Lakes Permaculture Design Collaborative
It can be hard to be brave in our world, and that includes seeking help from others. I like to look at counseling sessions as a gift of time for yourself. Our time together would be about you and your needs, and figuring out ways to heal or get there.
